The design brief specifically mentioned a somewhat conservative target audience. The soft creamy colour of the paper is a distinctive part of the corporate identity - but it’s also environmentally sound.
As part of the identity, Jan van Es [design] also developed a compact brand identity guide. The company website, product manuals and sales literature also underwent a major redesign.
Document Access, established in 1991, was a specialised software company with offices in Rotterdam, Dallas and New York. The focal point of the company's activities had gradually shifted to the insurance branch, making a change of name a necessity.
Under the new name Essentium, and with a newly created identity, the company became a leading systems integrator and application software provider to the insurance industry in Europe and the U.S.
Essentium's Insurance Product Development Environment (IPDE) was a ‘next generation’ calculation server that enabled insurance companies to create and update products more simply and quickly. Essentium later became part of the HP Software division in 2001.
